The 30-Day Mental Challenge
All you need to do is try.
I believe strongly in the efficacy of simple methods. The key is passion and wanting. Indeed, what first looks simple is often more complex than it appears. Profundity is revealed in application. It is only when you attempt to act on an ethical or spiritual principle that its challenges appear — and you confront questions about yourself. You may also discover extraordinary breakthroughs. In matters of the search and self-development, I believe in accelerants, which might also be called epiphanies or conversion experiences. Since I receive numerous requests for this November 2015 column I wrote in Science of Mind magazine, I am providing it here. The graphic is by artist Josh P. Romero.
____________
American philosopher William James (1842–1910) yearned to find a practical spirituality, one that produced concrete improvements in happiness.
The Harvard physician grew encouraged, especially in his final years, by his personal experiments with New Thought, which he called “the religion of healthy-mindedness.” I challenge today’s seekers to continue James’s search for a testable, workable spiritual system. Will join me in a thirty-day experiment that puts positive-mind metaphysics to the test?
