I recognize those categories but wouldn't become overly bound in them. The greater question for me is the actuality of the extra-physical, however approached. I think there's a hammer/nail problem with some of Ken's insights; we don't actually know the primeval mindset or its range of needs and understandings; so, there's an element of speculation about applying the pre/trans model here.
