Hi John, I think you raise a good point; as a friend of mine puts it “sometimes a trick works.” But I wouldn’t make the comparison between purveyors of positive-thinking and snake oil. Firstly, many of the positive thinking writers and acolytes are sincere seekers, albeit some are shrewder marketers than others. The religious impulse towards mind metaphysics runs deep in our country’s history.
