Hi John, I am not a Rand partisan but here is my understanding: given her book sales I think she was financially comfortable but a friend/caretaker pointed out to her that since she had been paying Social Security benefits for her entire working life it was sensible enough to draw the benefits. She didn’t believe in zero government but in a government that provided for common defense and enforcement of contracts. Not my view, personally. M
